Secure Shell, also known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange data between a hosting server and a client. Given that the information exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party simply cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of handling a hosting account. The commands which may be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, for example, the possibilities are limited as you shall not have root access to the hosting server, so you may simply create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, import and export databases, and so on. These are all actions that are executed inside the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. By using a virtual or a dedicated server, you will have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the hosting server or only a specific service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, and if you don't use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are tons of apps for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote server as well.

When you purchase a new VPS server from us, it will provide full root access and you will be able to connect to the server and to control everything via an SSH console. The feature is included by default with all packages, so you shall not need to allow or upgrade anything. Your hosting server shall be set up right after you buy it and the instant you get the Welcome email with the login info, you can connect via the server’s main IP address and start working. Since the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is isolated from the other accounts inside the physical machine, there'll be no restrictions in terms of the commands that you can use. You will have full root access, so that you can set up and run any app that can work on a Linux machine, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the entire machine or any software running on it.
