Learn exactly what Varnish is. Know a lot more about web accelerators and their purpose.
Varnish is a web accelerator platform, which caches info for the sake of faster response times. It’s sometimes referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy too and it works between a web server and a browser. When a site visitor opens a given web page, its content is requested by the web browser, and then the web server handles this request and delivers the needed content. If Varnish is enabled for a given website, it will cache its pages on the very first request and if the user opens a cached page once more, the data will be delivered by the accelerator platform and not by the server. The increased speed is an end result of the much faster response time that Varnish offers as compared to any web server software. At the same time, this doesn’t mean that the users will keep seeing the exact same content again and again, since any update on any of the pages is reflected in the content that Varnish saves in its memory.
Varnish in Shared Website Hosting
Our company offers Varnish as an optional upgrade with each shared website hosting plan
and if you would like to use it, you can add it to your website hosting account using the Upgrades section in your Hepsia Control Panel. There are two separate features that can be upgraded – the number of instances and the system memory. The first one refers to the number of the websites that you wish to use Varnish for and the second one, which is offered in increments of 32 megabytes, shows the total amount of content that the content caching platform can store at any given time. Hepsia’s user-friendly interface will allow you to deactivate or to reboot any instance, to check exhaustive system logs or to delete the platform’s cache with just click of the mouse. For optimal results, you can employ a dedicated IP address for the sites that will use the platform. With Varnish, your website will load tremendously faster, meaning more happy website visitors and potential clients.
Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
Varnish is a feature, which is included by default with all semi-dedicated plans
that we are offering and you can use it for workload distribution purposes. It’s available in your Hepsia Control Panel. The caching platform comes with 64 MB of system memory for cached data storing purposes and you can use it with any website that you host in the account. If you need more, you can increase the memory allowance. The memory itself is offered in increments of 32 MB in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. The very same Upgrades section will permit you to activate more instances too, if you want to use the Varnish platform with multiple websites. The two upgrades can be ordered independently – you can cache the content of one single resource-requiring site or run several websites with the default memory. You can get the most out of Varnish if you have a dedicated IP address and you can order one with your semi-dedicated plan as well. The Hepsia Control Panel will give you full control over the platform and, with no more than one single mouse click, you’ll be able to clear the cached data, to view a system log or to restart an instance.
Varnish in VPS Servers
You can use Varnish with all our VPS server
plans at no extra cost, since the platform is pre-installed and is included by default. The one and only requirement is that the VPS must be ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel, through which you will be able to activate Varnish for any of your sites with just a few mouse clicks. Each Virtual Private Server package includes a different amount of system memory for content caching purposes, but you will get at least several hundred megabytes, which is quite sufficient even for multiple regularly visited websites. Soon after you activate Varnish, it’ll start caching the content that your site visitors access, so you’ll notice the significantly better page load times and the less load on the Virtual Private Server very soon. The Varnish platform will allow you to use a less costly VPS server, since you won’t require that much power to ensure the uninterrupted operation of your Internet sites even if you have large-scale Internet sites with numerous visitors. Maximum results are achieved if the sites that use the Varnish caching platform use also a dedicated IP address.
Varnish in Dedicated Servers
All dedicated web hosting plans
that are ordered with the tailor-made Hepsia web hosting Control Panel come with Varnish, which is among the pre-installed software platforms that you will get with the server. The Varnish caching platform can be enabled and administered effortlessly via Hepsia’s easy-to-work-with GUI and, with no more than one click, you can view a comprehensive system log, add or reboot an instance, delete the cached data associated with any site and much more. Soon after you set up Varnish for a specific domain or subdomain, it will start caching the web pages requested by your visitors and as soon as it has cached enough content, you’ll witness a considerably faster site performance and a reduced load on your server. With Varnish-dedicated memory starting at three gigabytes, you will be able to use the platform for load balancing purposes even if you host lots of sites on your dedicated machine.
